TMJ DYSFUNCTION

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull.  TMJ disorders cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control your jaw’s movement. The cause of a person’s TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine, but it may be due to factors such as genetics, arthritis, or previous jaw injury.

Symptoms of TMJ disorders may include:

  • Aching facial pain
  • Pain around your ear
  • Pain or tenderness of the jaw
  • Pain while chewing or difficulty chewing
  • Difficulty opening or closing the mouth

BOTOX Treatment
We offer BOTOX injections to alleviate any jaw pain when other conservative treatments fail. BOTOX relieves TMJ and jaw tension, and the injections often eliminate associated headaches. The treatment is usually quick, straightforward, and very effective. Most patients experience notable improvement within one to two days of their first treatment.
